Thank you to all those who came out to support Zac and I at Busy Hands craft sale this past weekend. We had a wonderful time meeting so many of the kind and creative people in our new community of Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada.

The past few months have been a whirlwind of work for me in the studio preparing our new products that I couldn’t be happier with! I hope you love them as much as I do. This collection of digitally printed pencil cases and make up bags that are available in the below styles (Raccoon, Fox, Deer) all began as hand drawn paintings and drawings. These sketches and splashes of watercolour were scanned into the computer, manipulated and then sent off to be printed onto a linen/cotton blend. Printing of these textiles was done at a company based in North Carolina, U.S that can take anyone’s design and print it onto the cloth! I’ll keep you posted on a line of fabrics I am working on which you will be able to buy via Spoonflower in the new year. I lined these beauty zippered pouches with 100% organic cotton sateen that has our signature Gold & Ginger hand block printed logo (which we had carved while we were in India the summer before last. As if all this wasn’t awesome enough we have topped it off with a gorgeous heavy duty brass zipper…because you know how much I love gold. Did I mention everything is machine washable? Because they are!

The past year has been a huge learning experience for me as an artist and as a small business owner. Developing my style of making object and the way I want to do business has taken way longer than I thought it would. In many ways I feel as though 2014 was another year of school, working on some projects with great success and others that kind of fall flat. It’s now 16 months since Zac and I talked about me branching out and making a Gold & Ginger product line that extends beyond our collaborative artwork and I finally feel like I’m making the type of products I once dreamed about making.

Over the winter I will be re-vamping our website and getting myself on a regular blog posting schedule.  I’ll be including creative tips and tricks that I’ve picked up over the course of my artistic career, studio process photos and DIY ideas for those snowy days spent inside the house. Zac’s and my wedding is right around the corner as well so there will be a lot of covert dress making and decorations being dreamed up in the house that I will be documenting for your viewing pleasure.
